UPDATE: STORMS SWEEP ACROSS CALHOUN, MINOR FLOODING ON ROWELS RUN - Rainfall Up To 5 Inches In Region

(08/29/2020)
A couple of different thunderstorms swept across Calhoun Thursday afternoon.

There was a report of minor flooding Thursday on Rowels Run, the creek rising several feet and washing gardens away.

There was likely flooding in other localized areas, but no reports.

Dozens of trees were reported down on Calhoun highways around the county.

Some electric disruptions with the power company responding.

Parts of Nicholas, Clay, Braxton, and Webster Counties experienced high water Thursday night.

Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen, including 4.7 inches at Birch River and 3.6 inches just northeast of Craigsville.

High water had flooded roads in Camden on the Gauley at Coon Creek, and at the end of Williams River Road at Webster Road in Cowen.

Also, many roads in Birch creek were flooded. One road in Dille was completely washed out. These flood waters had receded or were beginning to receding, as the heavy rain ended.
