UPDATE: 10-YEAR-OLD NEBO, CLAY BOY KILLED IN ATV CRASH IDENTIFIED - Clay Eatery Raising Funds For Funeral

UPDATE - West Virginia State Police released the name of the 10-year-old boy who died in an ATV crash in Clay County.

A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Arnoldsburg, WV on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Roger Carter officiating.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Jarvis Cemetery, Chloe, WV. Online condolences may be expressed at www.stumpfuneralhomes.com

Riggs A. Carter died after an ATV flipped over in the Walker Creek Road area in Nebo, according to a news release from State Police.

State Police responded Tuesday and spoke with the boy’s father, who said his son left at 8:30 p.m. Monday to travel across the road to stay with his grandparents. At about 7 a.m. Tuesday, the father discovered the ATV flipped over in a field and the boy was pinned underneath.

No foul play is suspected.

The investigation continues.

The Clay County community is mourning the death of 10-year-old Riggs Carter.

ORIGINAL STORY - A child in Clay County has died after an ATV crash.

Clay 911 confirmed a 10-year-old boy was located around 7 p.m. Tuesday after apparently rolling an ATV down a hillside.

The individual who found the boy called 911.

The boy died from his injuries.

West Virginia State Police and Clay County deputies are investigating the crash.

No other details have been released.
