SUNDAY WV COVID-19 REPORT - 87 NEW CASES, TWO DEATHS

Health officials in West Virginia confirmed two more coronavirus-related deaths Sunday, raising the state's death toll to 178.

The deaths of an 83-year old man from Mercer County and a 92-year old woman from Taylor County were confirmed by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources in a news release.

West Virginia added 87 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, raising its total to 9,272. There are currently 1,736 active cases, up 34 from Saturday.

The state’s overall positive test rate dropped for a second-straight day and is now down to 2.34%. The daily positive test rate came in at 1.39%.

There are currently 139 residents hospitalized with the virus, including 46 in intensive care and 23 on ventilators.

At least 7,358 West Virginians have recovered from the virus.
