FRIDAY WV COVID-19: FOUR NEW DEATHS, 123 NEW CASES

Four COVID-19 deaths were reported Friday morning by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.

The DHHR confirmed the deaths of a 77-year-old woman from Logan County, an 84-year-old woman from Logan County, a 73-year-old man from Logan County and a 97-year-old man from Mercer County.

The four new deaths bring the state's COVID-19 death total to 157.

As of Friday morning, 8,274 cases of the virus have been confirmed in West Virginia since the pandemic started in March. The total increased by 123 since Thursday. There have been 6,144 recoveries in total.

There are 1,973 active cases in the state, according to the DHHR.

The daily positive test rate is 2.33% with a cumulative positive test rate of 2.40%.
