MONDAY WV COVID-19 - 60 NEW CASES, TWO NEW DEATHS

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed 60 new cases of the coronavirus and two additional deaths caused by the virus in its report on Monday.

The DHHR confirmed 131 new COVID-19 cases and eight deaths on Sunday. All eight deaths stemmed from the Princeton Health Care Center in Mercer County.

The South Central Regional Jail in Kanawha County has gone on lockdown with five active cases of coronavirus among inmates, making it the second West Virginia jail with an ongoing outbreak.

The other is the Southern Regional Jail in Raleigh County.

The report from the DHHR stated that as of 10 a.m. on Monday, August 10, there have been a total of 326,886 (+3,972) laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 7,754 (+60) total cases and 141 (+2) of those cases resulting in deaths.

The DHHR has confirmed the deaths of and 83-year-old man from Kanawha County and a 74-year-old man from from Logan County as the state’s latest deaths caused by COVID-19.

According to the DHHR’s website, there are currently 1,914 (+37) active cases and 5,699 (+21) recovered cases in the state.
