REGION FAMOUS FOR METH LABS - Parkersburg Police Get Drug Fighting Grant

About 100 methamphetamine labs were discovered in West Virginia - 60 of those in Wood County - last year.

The Parkersburg Police Department will have $220,000 dollars in grant money to fight the meth problem.

Meth labs have been discovered in other regional counties, including Roane and Wirt, one recently in Burning Springs.Other labs have been discovered in southern Roane County.

The Department of Justice grant money will be used for overtime pay, public education efforts and new equipment.

The Parkersburg Police Department is the only law enforcement agency in the state to receive one of the grants.

The money is distributed through the Department of Justice's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
