PM SATURDAY: NEW WV COVID-19 CASES 126

West Virginia added 49 more COVID-19 cases Saturday afternoon, bringing the state’s total for the day to 126.

The number of active cases in the state moved to 1,603, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources' 5 p.m. update.

The number of children testing positive is increasing.

COVID-19 cases are reaching record daily numbers across the USA.

U.S. cases soar as 18 states set single-day records in past week.

The state’s overall positive test rate moved again to 2.27% while the daily positive test rate dropped to 2.81%.

Meanwhile, the first positive case in Doddridge County was confirmed Saturday. The county was the last to report a positive test.

The number of recoveries in the state increased to 4,115 in the evening update, up from 4,078.

The number of hospitalizations in the state increased from 76 to 80 while the number of residents in intensive care dropped from 37 to 35. The number of West Virginians on ventilators also dropped from 15 to 11.

No new deaths were reported Saturday, keeping the state’s coronavirus-related death toll at 103.
