AM FRIDAY: 103 NEW WV COVID-19 CASES

The pace of the coronavirus in West Virginia continued at a fast clip Friday morning with 103 new positive cases.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources said the state had a total of 5,653 positive COVID-19 cases, up from 5,550 from the previous day. Active cases were at 1,604, down from 1,607 from Thursday afternoon’s report.

More than 251,000 have been tested for the virus, and the overall positive test rate was at 2.25%. The daily positive test rate was at 4.81%.

No new deaths were reported, and the total remained at 103.

Hospitalizations were listed at 88, with 38 in intensive care and 16 on a ventilator. The total number of recoveries was at 3,946.
