MAN SHOT - Deputies in Nicholas County said a man is in the hospital after being shot during an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement.

It happened about 9 p.m. Saturday. Deputies said they responded to a shots fired complaint in the Phillips Run Road area of Summersville.

Dispatchers said that a man had fired a gun at "multiple" people in the area, according to a news release from the Nicholas County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they say the suspect, identified as Carl Raines, 50, of Summersville, fired a handgun at law enforcement. The release listed Deputy D. Tallamy and Deputy A.L. Shaffer as victims.

"Gunfire was exchanged and Mr. Raines was disarmed after being hit," according to the release.

Deputies said Raines was flown to the hospital due to his injuries.

The incident is still under investigation.

CHARLESTON STABBING - A Dunbar woman has been charged in a deadly stabbing overnight in Charleston.

Rashieda Tyree, 30, is charged with first degree murder after police said she allegedly stabbed a man during an altercation early Saturday morning.

CHARLESTON VIOLENCE - Charleston police said Duane Troy Letlow, 54, of Charleston, was found with a stab wound to his chest. He was taken to the hospital where he later died, according to a news release.

The incident happened about 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Washington Street East.

The Charleston Police Department is looking for the suspect of a shooting that took place this afternoon at Renaissance Circle.

Police have issued an warrant for malicious wounding for Denzil Weatherspoon, 27, of Charleston.

CPD officers responded to the 1300 block of Renaissance Circle at approximately 4 p.m., Monday, July 13. Once there, officers found Darryl Terry, 28, of Charleston, with a gunshot wound to the arm.

According to police, Weatherspoon shot Terry after an argument over a pair of jeans, striking him once. Medical officials transported Terry to a local hospital where he is stable condition.
