PM TUESDAY: 63 NEW WV COVID-19 CASES

West Virginia added 44 new coronavirus cases Tuesday afternoon, bringing the day's new case total to 63.

The latest figures from the state Department of Health and Human Resources follows a spike on Monday when 107 new cases were reported.

West Virginia has added 452 new cases since Thursday afternoon of last week.

Gov. Jim Justice, concerned about the rising numbers, announced on Monday this week that he was ordering the wearing of face coverings or masks when people are in buildings outside their homes and there is no social distancing available.

Meanwhile, the number of active cases declined by 21 – to 810, according to the latest figures from the DHHR. There have been 2,600 recoveries.

The state now has a total of 3,505 positive virus cases. More than 190,000 have been tested with an overall positive percentage rate of 1.84%. The daily positive rate Tuesday was at 3.80%.

No new deaths were reported, and the total remained at 95.
