The 2020 National History Day’s National Competition ended on Saturday, June 20, 2020 with an online award ceremony.

A major award is the naming of the best project in each state for High School and Middle School competitors. The West Virginia High School winner, of the Outstanding Affiliate Award, was announced with Jaelyn Jett having the top project in the state.

Jaelyn has previously won the award as a middle school student and now as a freshman--the high school top prize. Jaelyn’s project titled, Sojourner's Truth: "I will shake every place I go to" positive comments on the judges score cards.

Jaelyn will take a deep breath and will soon begin working on next year’s NHD project. The 2021 theme is “Communication in History: The Key to Understanding.” All students in grades 6-12 are eligible to participate in NHD.
