PM THURSDAY: 42 NEW CASES COVID-19 REPORTED FRIDAY

West Virginia’s positive COVID-19 cases increased another 42 Thursday, but the state’s positive test rate remained low with a growing number of tests reported.

The number of active cases has risen to 665.

COVID-19 cases linked to Myrtle Beach now found in three WV counties.

Twelve COVID-19 cases in Preston County are tied to recent trips to Myrtle Beach.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources said in a news release the state had a total of 2,418 cases as of 5 p.m.

More than 144,300 tests have been conducted in the state, with a positive test rate of 1.68%.

The state DHHR said 1,665 residents have recovered from the virus.

According to the state agency’s website, 25 are hospitalized, with five in intensive care and two on a ventilator.

No new deaths were reported, and the death total remained at 88.
