A cloudburst apparently struck a small area around Arnoldsburg about 4:45 p.m. Thursday dumping about two inches of rain in a matter of minutes, coupled with severe lightening strikes.

Water was about two feet deep in Tanners Tire and water was over the road on Spring Run.

Electric and phone service was out in the area.

Neighboring creeks and the West Fork were almost out of banks.

Arnoldsburg Asst. Fire Chief Joe Tanner said lightening struck near the Tanner residence, turning on metal detector in the house.

Earlier Friday, a truck took down phone lines on Rt. 16, a short distance from the Upper West Fork Fire Department and Park.
