CLARIFICATION: ROANE COUNTY RESIDENT DIES AFTER HAVING COVID-19

Parkersburg, WV June 5, 2020 – The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department (MOVHD) would like to make a clarification of the Roane County resident’s death announced yesterday as a COVID-19 related death. The Roane County resident passed away after battling lung cancer. This individual had been diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier in the year but had recovered from the diagnosis and was no longer being monitored by the health department. According to guidelines, if COVID-19 is listed on a death certificate as possible contributing factor although not the primary cause, it will be listed as a COVID-19 related death. The health department would like to offer our condolences to the family and to the community. Please be safe and wear a mask when in public to protect yourself and those around you.
