ELIZABETH WOMAN DIES IN CRASH - Charges Pending In Crash

Charges are pending after a woman has died from a crash in Wood County. The Wood County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Catherine Fought, 46, of Elizabeth, W.Va., succumbed to her injuries after a crash Wednesday night. The crash was reported about 10:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of Elizabeth Pike. Deputies said Fought was driving a car south on the road and a sport utility vehicle driven by Robert Carter, 24, of Palestine, W.Va. was heading northbound. Two passengers also were in the SUV. According to the preliminary investigation, the SUV driven by Carter crossed the center line into the path of the car driven by Fought and the vehicles collided head on. Fought was ejected from her vehicle. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending, deputies said.
