PM THURSDAY: 25 NEW COVID-19 CASES

A 62-year-old Roane County man has died from COVID-19, bringing state’s overall death toll from the virus to 79.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed the death Thursday in a news release.

Meanwhile, the state’s corona virus positive total increased by 25 cases Thursday.

Of the positive virus cases, 2,039 are confirmed and 63 are probable. There have been 1,424 recoveries from the virus, and there are currently 599 active cases.

More than 106,500 tests have been given. The state’s positive test rate remained below 2%, at 1.97%.

Hospitalizations were listed at 28, with 11 in the intensive care unit and two on a ventilator.
