WEDNESDAY PM: WV COVID-19 CASES AT 45 - Huttonsville Prison Has 102 Cases, Unruly Conflict Between Science And Politicians

More than 100,000 Americans have died from COVID-19, as epidemiologists and their science is in a unruly squabble with politicians.

There are six million cases world-wide with 356,000 deaths, mostly in the USA, suffering a mixed bag with preparedness.

Across America, there is a major increase in a number of states as businesses and public access reopens, with a spike in WV cases.

The Huttonsville, Randolph County prison had a total of 102 inmates test positive for the virus as of 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to data on the state Department of Health and Human Resources’ website, posing a threat to prison workers and their families.

State health officials added 32 new coronavirus cases to West Virginia's total Wednesday evening.

Thirteen new cases were reported AM Wednesday, making a total of 45 new cases for Wednesday. The state makes it difficult to access a daily total, with two reports.

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources said in a news release that the state now has a total of 1,899 cases as of 5 p.m.

At least 1,280 residents have recovered from the virus, according to the state DHHR website. There are currently 618 known active cases.

No new deaths were reported Wednesday.
