UPDATE: DRIVE-THROUGH TESTING IN KANAWHA DISCOVERS POSITIVE COVID-19 CASES WITH DAYCARE WORKERS - Six Day Care Workers Test Positive, DHHR Twice Daily Report Implies Lower Numbers

Two more day care workers in Charleston have tested positive for coronavirus Saturday, making at least six day care workers now with the virus.

A 25-year-old West Virginia resident has died because of the coronavirus, a woman from Berkeley County, according to a West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.

Less than 2% of US citizens have been tested.

During the past 60 days US government has told the American people that testing is readily available.

It is not, with more select groups recently targeted for more testing.

According to the governor's comeback plan, all day care workers will now be tested for coronavirus in the coming weeks, similar to the testing of all nursing homes which is done.

A staff member at Zion Child Development Center in Charleston and one from My Family Preschool and Childcare Center in Hurricane tested positive Saturday after results came back after the opening of a drive-thru testing clinic in Kanawha.

The West Virginia DHHR started releasing to COVID-19 reports daily, AM and PM, which creates the impression of a lower test rate, although the total numbers are published in the county-by-county report appear to be accurate.

Twenty-four new cases in WV Saturday and 15 new cases Sunday.

While thousands of US poultry-meat workers have tested positive with COVID-19, the West Virginia National Guard is catching up conducting tests for the coronavirus at a poultry processing plant in Hardy county, where cases have increased.

Hardy County sheriff’s office spokesman David Maher says testing at the Pilgrim’s Pride plant of about 940 workers in Moorefield will occur on every shift Monday. Employees also will be screened for symptoms on a daily basis and between shifts.

Health officials have not disclosed whether there are any confirmed virus cases at the plant. The number of confirmed cases in the county has increased from three on April 27 to 16 as of Sunday.
