Sadie Rae Smith, 80, of Reedy

Sadie Rae Smith, 80, of Reedy, died May 4, 2020, at Eldercare of West Virginia, Ripley, after an extended illness.

She was born February 15, 1940 at Spencer, the daughter of the late Faude and Hettie Virginia Starcher Runnion.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mayford Cleo Smith; brother, Lester Runnion; infant sister, Wilma Runnion.

Sadie was a homemaker and mother. She was a former employee of Norris Industries and Kellwood Corp., Spencer. Her pastimes included vegetable gardening and canning.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Patty Smith of Leroy; grandchildren, James Smith of Leroy and Jaquline Roberts-Reyes of New Jersey; great grandchildren, Zachary Smith-Villegas, Mary Beth Reyes and Marcus Antony Reyes; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clyde and Cheche Runnion of Reedy, Virgil Runnion of Spencer, Danny and Debbie Runnion also of Spencer, Marion Runnion of Illinois; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Coon of Reedy, Dorothy and Bill Stewart of Rock Hill, S.C., Joyce and Roy Bill of Iowa, Margie and Dave Lee of Illinois, Rose and Jeff Fetty of South Carolina, Lauretta Peck of Texas; multiple nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service is planned for noon, July 19 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Reedy.

John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
