Homer Lee Conley, 80, of Newton

Homer Lee Conley, 80, of Newton, died Saturday, May 2, 2020, at his home after an extended illness.

He was born March 14, 1940, at Uler, Roane County, the son of the late Howard and Locie Miller Conley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Conley; sisters, Gladys Pathfinder and Loretta Smith; brother, Donald Conley.

Homer was a retired supervisor at DuPont, Belle. He was a 1959 graduate of Spencer High School and a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. Also, he was a member of the Newton Baptist Church, Newton and the Linden Lodge No. 83, A.F. & A.M., Linden.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Patricia R. Rogers Conley, whom he married August 11, 1952 at Clover; sons, Michael (Shirley) Conley of Duck and Wayne (Vera) Conley of Shelbyville, KY; daughters, Christy (Mike) Conley of Walton and Stacy (Aaron) Romano of Newton; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; sisters, Pat (Rex) Jarvis of Cleveland, Ohio and Becky (Dale) Rogers of Massillon, Ohio; sister-in-law, Julie Conley of Newton.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, there will be a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7 at the Elana (aka Zion Hill) Cemetery, Elana, with Pastor Geary Legg officiating. Family and friends planning to attend are kindly reminded to observe and practice social distancing.

Military honors will be accorded by the West Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions are preferred to either the Newton Baptist Church or the Elana (aka Zion Hill) Cemetery.
