MORGANTOWN WOMAN SHOT DEAD - A woman is dead following an early morning shooting in Monongalia County.

According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, the victim was shot at a residence outside of Morgantown on Babbling Brook Road off of Tyrone Road. She was pronounced dead at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

The shooting was reported at about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday

No names have been released and no arrests have been made.

MASON MURDER - State Police are investigating the discovery of a body in an abandoned home in Mason County as a homicide.

Troopers were called to the home in the Leon community just before 10 p.m. Tuesday. The victim, believed to be in his 30’s, was dead of an apparent gunshot wound, according to investigators.

Troopers say the man’s vehicle couldn’t be located at the scene. It was found later in a creek near Red House in Putnam County. Troopers are trying to locate persons of interest with ties to the vehicle who may have information about how the victim was shot.

CHARLESTON SHOOTING - Charleston police are still searching for a suspect in a shooting that left one person dead Wednesday.

Joseph D. Fields, 46, was found dead outside his home in the 700 block of Garrison Avenue about 4:30 p.m., according to police.

No arrest had been made. There is no threat to the community, police said.

The Charleston Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is investigating.
