State Police said a van driven by Manuel Campos, 69, of Ripley crossed the center line on Ripley Road and collided with a truck driven by William Heis, 54.

Heis is the principal of Roane County High School.

Campos died at the scene of the crash, according to a West Virginia State Police news release. Heis was flown to an area hospital.

No information was provided on Heis’ current condition.

State Police said the investigation is ongoing.
