ERSTINE R. "HERB" JETT - Looneyville

Erstine R. "Herb" Jett, 89, of Looneyville, Roane County, West Virginia, passed away, Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at his home after a short illness.

He was born November 20, 1913, at Pad, a son of the late Jesse W. and Matilda Harris Jett. He was retired from E.I. DuPont, Belle, WV with 36 years of service. He was a faithful member and deacon of the Newton Baptist Church, Newton, for over 50 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Ray and Woody Jett; four sisters, Gertrude McGlothlin, Elsie Greathouse, Freda Drake and Ruby Jett; one granddaughter, Sarah Beth Jett.

Surviving relatives include his wife of 63 years, Thelma G. Smith Jett; six sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and June of Looneyille, Ronald and Nina of Elkview, WV, Danny "Duke" and Sue of Linden, WV, Terry and Janet of Elkview, Blake and Shirley of Looneyville, Jimmy and Rosanne of Looneyville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Larry Foster of Cartersville, Georgia, and Judy and Roger Myers of Looneyville; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer with the Rev. O.L. Shepherd, Pastor Roy Huffman and Pastor L.D. Foster officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Cemetery, Vineyard Ridge, Looneyville.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
