(04/16/2020)
4/14/2020 - The Calhoun Sheriffs Department was attempting to make a traffic stop in South Grantsville, Rt. 7. at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday night when the driver sped up, fled and then stopped, exiting the vehicle.

Michael Andrew Keeney, II, 30, escaped on foot in the area of the old Calhoun High School, the Grantsville bridge and Dominion Gas.

State Police and the sheriff's department went looking for the suspect, who appeared to be known to authorities.

A female passenger was left in the stopped vehicle.

A short time later police caught Keeney near the Dominion office, calling for Calhoun EMS, the man possibly suffering from hypothermia being in the Little Kanawha River.

He was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health System, then charged DUI-3rd and Driving Revoked DUI-3rd.

Keeney is in Central Regional Jail with bond at $40,000 cash.
