Arbutus Ann Sims Peters, 79, of Burnsville

Arbutus Ann Sims Peters age 79 of Joes Run Road, Burnsville WV (Gilmer County) departed this life in the early evening hours of Friday, April 10, 2020 at the Genesis Health Care Glenville Center following an extended illness.

She was born August 24, 1940 in Troy WV, daughter of the late Lester K. and Dolly Stalnaker Collins.

Arbutus retired as a Store Manager for Rite Aid in Glenville where she worked for many years and she was a long time member of the Sand Fork Baptist Church in Sand Fork. In her spare time, Arbutus enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing Yahtzee, and caring for her beloved dog, Jake.

On July 7, 2013 Arbutus was united in marriage to Earl C. Peters, who preceded her in death on December 8, 2018.

Surviving are 2 sons, Rob Lowther and wife Sally of Glenville and David Sims and wife Leslie of Parkersburg WV; son-in-law, Jeffery Hyre of Jane Lew WV; and 2 sisters, Hilda Carter and Gilda Sears of Jane Lew.

Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Rae-Anna Lowther and husband Nathan Capleton of Fairmont WV, Josh Lowther of Glenville, and Mackenzie Sims of Parkersburg; 1 great-grandson, Neo Capleton of Fairmont, and many other wonderful family and friends.

Along with her parents and husband, Arbutus was preceded in death by her daughter, Greta Hyre; brother, Everett Collins; and sister, Wilma Conrad; her first husband, Junior Lowther, and second husband, Tom Sims.

Arbutus request for cremation has been honored and a memorial service in her honor may be conducted later in the summer of 2020.
