MINUTES REGULAR MEETING CALHOUN COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MARCH 3, 2003 STATE OF WEST VIRGINIA: COUNTY OF CALHOUN: At the Office of the Superintendent, Grantsville, West Virginia; Monday, March 3, 2003 MEMBERS PRESENT: Ralph Cunningham, Richard Fitzwater, Carlene Frederick, Donald Harris and Burl Simers Ronald Blankenship, Secretary ABSENT: None The meeting was called to order by President Fitzwater at 7:00 p.m. MINUTES: Mr. Cunningham moved and Mr. Harris seconded that the minutes of the February 3, 2003 meeting be approved. Motion carried unanimously. DELEGATIONS: Steve and Jan Whited addressed the Board regarding entrance age for kindergarten. No action taken. REPORTS: Mrs. Frederick reported on the February 26, 2003 RESA meeting. Mr. Blankenship reported on the February 27, 2003 CGCC Administrative Council meeting. NEW BUSINESS: Mr. Cunningham moved and Mr. Simers seconded that the following new business be approved as presented: A. Lights On Proposals B. Return-To-Work Program Policy (Draft) C. Volunteer Agreements 1. Lorie Bailey - Arnoldsburg 2. Connie Metheney - Arnoldsburg 3. Christina Neely - Arnoldsburg D. Lateral Transfer Policy - Amended (Draft) E. Calendar Conversion F. Contract - Henry Bussey - Psychological Services G. Resolution - Glenville State College H. Agreement with Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center (Amended) I. Agreement with MOVRC Motion carried unanimously. PERSONNEL: Upon the Superintendent's recommendation, Mr. Cunningham moved and Mr. Fitzwater seconded that the following matters be approved: Job Postings 1. Mathematics Teacher - Calhoun Middle/High 2. Mentor for Keyboarding Teacher 3. Oral and Video Project Coordinator (Lights On) Employment Vickie Baker - Mathematics Teacher - Calhoun Middle/High (2003-2004) Donald Price - Mentor for Special Education Teacher (Fitzwater) Allison Dye - Substitute Teacher Craig Arthur - Mentor/Tutor (Lights On) Wayne Hardway - Oral and Video Project Coordinator (Lights On) Beth Alltop - Mentor for Keyboarding Teacher (Miller) Craig Arthur - Tutor/Mentor (Lights On) Effective 2/6/03 Kelly Brown - Tutor/Mentor (Lights On) Shannon Brown - Tutor/Mentor (Lights On) Melody Davis - Tutor/Mentor (Lights On) Effective 1/17/03 Joshua Hanshaw - Tutor/Mentor (Lights On) Brittiny McCoy - Tutor/Mentor (Lights On) Effective 1/21/03 Jason Poling - Tutor/Mentor (Lights On) Effective 2/5/03 Jason Stephenson - Tutor Mentor (Lights On) Sara Walker - Tutor/Mentor (Lights On) Heather Weaver - Tutor/Mentor (Lights On) Effective 2/6/03 Angela Yoak - Tutor/Mentor (Lights On) Marisha Collins - Substitute Custodian Russell F. FINANCE: Mr. Cunningham moved and Mr. Simers seconded that the following financial matters be approved: A. Invoices - $163,996.34 B. Supplement - $21,946.34 C. Transfer - $21,700.00 D. Proposed Levy Rates E. Financial Statement - January 2003 Motion carried unanimously. BOARD CONCERNS: May RESA/WVSBA Retreat. Possible WVSBA dues increase. Mr. Cunningham moved and Mr. Harris seconded that the Board convene in executive session at 7:31 p.m. for the discussion of personnel. Motion carried unanimously. Mr. Cunningham moved and Mr. Simers seconded that the Board reconvene in regular session at 8:02 p.m. Motion carried unanimously. ADJOURNMENT: Mr. Cunningham moved and Mrs. Frederick seconded that the Board adjourn at 8:03 p.m. with the next meetings March 24, 2003 at the Arnoldsburg School; Arnoldsburg, West Virginia and Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at the Office of the Superintendent; Grantsville, West Virginia.
