MINUTES REGULAR MEETING CALHOUN COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MARCH 3, 2003

STATE OF WEST VIRGINIA: COUNTY OF CALHOUN: At the Office of the Superintendent, Grantsville, West Virginia; Monday, March 3, 2003

MEMBERS PRESENT: Ralph Cunningham, Richard Fitzwater, Carlene Frederick, Donald Harris and Burl Simers
Ronald Blankenship, Secretary

ABSENT: None

The meeting was called to order by President Fitzwater at 7:00 p.m.

MINUTES:

Mr. Cunningham moved and Mr. Harris seconded that the minutes of the February 3, 2003 meeting be approved. Motion carried unanimously.

DELEGATIONS:

Steve and Jan Whited addressed the Board regarding entrance age for kindergarten. No action taken.

REPORTS:

Mrs. Frederick reported on the February 26, 2003 RESA meeting.
Mr. Blankenship reported on the February 27, 2003 CGCC Administrative Council meeting.

NEW BUSINESS:

Mr. Cunningham moved and Mr. Simers seconded that the following new business be approved as presented:

Mr. Cunningham moved and Mr. Simers seconded that the following financial matters be approved:

B. Supplement - $21,946.34
C. Transfer - $21,700.00
D. Proposed Levy Rates
E. Financial Statement - January 2003

Motion carried unanimously.

BOARD CONCERNS:

May RESA/WVSBA Retreat.
Possible WVSBA dues increase.

Mr. Cunningham moved and Mr. Harris seconded that the Board convene in executive session at 7:31 p.m. for the discussion of personnel. Motion carried unanimously.

Mr. Cunningham moved and Mr. Simers seconded that the Board reconvene in regular session at 8:02 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.

ADJOURNMENT:

Mr. Cunningham moved and Mrs. Frederick seconded that the Board adjourn at 8:03 p.m. with the next meetings March 24, 2003 at the Arnoldsburg School; Arnoldsburg, West Virginia and Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at the Office of the Superintendent; Grantsville, West Virginia. Motion carried unanimously.
