Betty May Ahlstrom Ryan, 97 of New Milton

Betty May Ahlstrom Ryan, age 97 of New Milton WV, departed this life on the evening of Saturday, March 21, 2020 at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born September 24, 1922 in Lockport NY, daughter of the late George C. and Iva M. Loesh Ahlstrom.

Betty is a retired music teacher and mother of 12. She is a long time member of the Good Shepard Catholic Church in Glenville and was the organist for many years. Betty enjoyed woodworking, sharing her faith, and she devoted her life to raising her children and praising the Lord with her music.

On November 1, 1943 Betty was united in marriage to Arthur R. Ryan who preceded her in death in January of 1994.

Surviving are 9 children, Mary Platt (Jay) of Sacramento CA, James Ryan (Toby) Darian NY, Patricia Dowell (Tom) of Shepherdstown WV, William Ryan of Alum Bridge WV, Joseph Ryan (Jeanne) of St. Augustine FL, Theresa Karg (Tom) of Buffalo NY, Kathleen Burroughs (Ronnie "Pete") of Roanoke WV, John Ryan (Grace) of New Milton WV, and Michael Ryan (Lynn) of Shingles Springs CA.

Also surviving are a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other wonderful family and friends.

Along with her parents and husband, Betty is preceded in death by 3 daughters, Elizabeth Ryan, Margaret Buettner, and Ann Walker; and 1 brother, David Ahlstrom.

The family's request for cremation has been honored and the family will have a private graveside service in the Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery in Tanner WV with Father James DeVise officiating.
