MINNIE HAMILTON HEALTH SYSTEM GEARING UP FOR VIRUS - 100 Test Kits Already Available

By Bob Weaver Minnie Hamilton Health System has geared up and preparing to deal with the Coronavirus, according to CEO Steve Whited. Whited told the Hur Herald Wednesday morning they have 100 test kits at this point, while testing and personal protective equipment are still in high demand. "Personal Protective Equipment might become an issue, but an emergency preparedness shipment is due any day to the State, which then will be relayed to healthcare facilities," Whited said. Testing guidelines are still somewhat strict, a provider must make that determination, still with all the information floating around, the main key factors include fever of 100.4 and above, respiratory issues, and travel/known exposure. "At some point in the next day or so, we will be screening all persons at all sites for potential symptoms, prior to entering a facility. We are mobilizing a screening and testing process that will assists in segregation of possible cases, and we have received notice as well as implemented the ability to perform visits via tele services (video and phone)." Whited said this will allow us to serve patients and not expose them to potential dangers. "We continue to schedule and see patients as well. At the Grantsville office we have prepared an alternate site in the annex downstairs location. Glenville office we have implemented a separate patient flow, and we are evaluating another separate access point."
