James Carroll "Jim" Dye, 73, of Newton

James Carroll "Jim" Dye, 73, of Newton, died Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at CAMC-General Hospital, Charleston.

He was born June 11, 1946, at Newton, the son of the late Yale and Elizabeth Smith Dye.

Jim was a former employee of Miller Excavating, Ohio. His favorite pastimes were spending time with family and friends, working outdoors, gardening, mowing and wood cutting. Also, he enjoyed his dogs, Brutus and Duke.

Survivors include his life partner and best friend, Ann McGlothlin Dye; sons, James (Amanda) Dye of Newton, David L. Dye of Newton, Gary A. (Meredith) Dye of Canal Fulton, Ohio and Jonathan K. Dye also of Newton; daughters, Lori A. (Michael) Greenleaf of Newton and Loretta L. (Michael) Koon of Spencer; brother, Lowell (Juanita) Dye of Beloit, Ohio; sister, Katherine (Johnny) Cunningham of Burton, Ohio; sister-in-law, Leona Dye of Spencer; 18 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita K. Brannon; granddaughter, Kimberly A. White; sister, Dorma Simons; brothers, Harold Dye, Arnold Dye, Doyle Dye, Robey Dye, Bettes Dye and Coy Dye.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 29 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Geary Legg officiating. Burial will be in the Smith-Dye Cemetery, Newton. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
