T. Opal Mace, 91, of Burlington, N.C., formerly of Arnoldsburg, died Saturday, February 22, 2020, at the home of her nephew, Charles E. (Nancy) Mace, with whom she resided.

She was born June 6, 1928, in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Fred and Bethel Hall Starcher.

Mrs. Mace was a former employee of Kellwood Company, Spencer. She was a Christian and had attended the Community Church and the Leatherbark Church in Calhoun County.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Mace; a sister, Adah Lea Webb; three brothers, Fred, Kenneth Wayne and Chester Darwin Starcher.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, who were like her children; friends and neighbors.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 26 at the Starcher Cemetery, Arnoldsburg, with Pastor Rick Metheney officiating.

John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
