Rodney Darrell Taylor, 71, of Palestine

Rodney Darrell Taylor, 71, of Palestine WV, passed away at his residence Monday, February 10, 2020.

He was born in Big Bend, Calhoun County, the son of the late Virgil and Madeline (Goodnight) Taylor.

He was a 1967 graduate of Calhoun County High School, and served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans [DAV] and the Paralyzed Veterans, and was a mechanic by trade.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Mary Ann (La Deaux) Taylor; 2 sons, Joseph Taylor of Big Bend and John Taylor of Palestine; step grandchildren, Christopher Kirkland, Madison, Preston, Johnathan and Katelynn Allman; 2 special little friends, Aaliyah and Dalan Green who called him "Poppy"; 3 brothers, Doug Taylor (Shirley) of Big Bend, Dextor Taylor of Big Springs and Harry Taylor (Carol) of Grantsville; 3 sisters, Sheila Sims (James) of Big Bend, Kathy Richards (Willie) of Big Springs, Martha Newell (Eric) of Annamoriah; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Gary, Ronnie and Perry.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Matheny-Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth WV with Rev. Rick Metheney officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be at K of P Cemetery of Elizabeth.
