Hazel Jean Vandall Powell, 90, of Cedar Grove

Hazel Jean Vandall Powell, 90, of Cedar Grove, passed away Friday, February 7, 2020 at her residence after a short illness. She was born in Creston, West Virginia, August 31, 1929, a daughter of the late Allen and Virginia Merrill Vandall.

She received her teaching certificate from Glenville State College and taught in a one room school house. Hazel had also previously worked as a secretary for a paint company in Parkersburg. She loved reading and caring for her family, baking, cake decorating, crocheting. Most of her life she was a homemaker and was very active in the lives of her children. She was a member of the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. Hazel practiced unconditional love and accepted everyone.

She is survived by one daughter, Tanya Powell of Parkersburg; two sons, Mike (Mary) Powell of Parkland, Florida and Mark (Brenda) Powell of Little Hocking, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one sister, Pauline Cline of Parkersburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Powell, Jr. who she was very happily married to for 59 years in 2007 and one son, Todd David Powell, in 1986.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, South Parkersburg, with Pastor Beth Peters officiating. Interment will follow in the K of P Cemetery, Elizabeth. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2020 at the funeral home.
