Murry Wayne "Tiny" Shafer, 73, of Walton

Murry Wayne "Tiny" Shafer, 73, of Walton, died Monday, January 20, 2020, at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, after a short illness.

He was born September 1, 1946, at Walton, the son of the late Oscar and Myrtle Moore Shafer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, the Rev. Charles M. Shafer, Curry Z. "Buck" Shafer and Jerry L. Shafer all of Walton, and Kenny "Gene" Shafer of Lake City, Tenn.; sisters, Mary Looney of Clendenin, Sybil Ascher and Lessie Gay Irvine both of Portland, Ore.

Survivors include brothers, Danny "Ray" Shafer of Walton and James Shafer of Elkview; niece, Carol Proctor of Walton and a grandniece, who were at his side during the hospital stay, and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Earl Burgess officiating. Burial will be in the Droddy-Canterbury Cemetery, Walton. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
