WV RANKS HIGH WITH ELDERLY POPULATION

People over the age of 65 make up 20 percent of West Virginia’s population.

The Oldest States in America study recently released by SeniorLiving.org ranks the state 3rd in the nation for residents in the 65 and older age group and in the 65 to 74 category.

West Virginia is also a state with a high death rate and leading the USA with loss of population.

Maine and Florida ranked above West Virginia when it came to the percent of people over 65. The study found the median age of Americans to be 38 years old.
