Now the Promise scholarship won't just help students with their education, it will also hook them up with a summer job.

The newly started Promise Internship Program will link Promise scholars around the state with summer jobs in a variety of fields around West Virginia.

"People keep telling us it's great that we're educating students, but what happens if there are no jobs," said Robert Morgenstern, director of the Promise scholarship program. "Now we're going to help them find jobs."

Research indicates that students who intern with companies have a better chance of landing a job after graduation.

"The focus of Promise was to keep our best and brightest in West Virginia. To do that, you really need to get those students realizing there are a lot of good job possibilities in West Virginia," according to WVU.

The program is only available to students who have already received a Promise scholarship.
