Karen Ruth Wright, 81, of Spencer, died Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at the home of her daughter. She was born January 12, 1938, at Spencer, the daughter of the late Iverson Velvy and Goldie Marie Smith Linger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Wright; and brother, Iverson Velvy Linger, Jr. Her pastimes included singing gospel music, cooking and sewing. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Doug Cottrell of Spencer; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sister, Frances Linger of Clemmons, N.C.; sister-in-law, Juanita Linger of Newton; nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation or service. A memorial service is planned for a later date. John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
