CHLOE MAN ENTERS GUILTY PLEA BEFORE TRIAL IN DRUG CASE

(12/21/2019)
While a pool of jurors was waiting to hear a case against a Calhoun man, he entered a guilty plea in Roane Circuit Court.

A arrested in Roane County with marijuana agreed to give up more than $11,000 in cash and entered a guilty plea instead of going to trial.

Jason Wayne Jarvis, 40, of Little White Oak Road, Chloe, was arrested in February in the Wallback area on drug charges.

Police said when they searched Jarvis and his truck they found a bag of marijuana, a set of scales, a supply of plastic bags, a 9 mm pistol, a pellet gun and several $100 bills.

Jarvis had been free on bond, when his bond provider withdrew the bond and he was jailed.

Roane Prosecutor Josh Downey said Jarvis agreed to forfeit $11,088 in cash seized at the time of his arrest, with that money going to the Roane Sheriff's Department. The sheriff's department will return a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck to Jarvis.

As part of the plea agreement, a recommend sentence of probation will be made.

Jarvis was released on a personal recognizance bond while awaiting sentencing.
