CLAY WOMAN CHARGED WITH TAKING "WIDEN DAYS" FUND

"Widen Days" was a well-attended homecoming in Clay County.

The Clay Communicator is reporting that a woman, apparently associated with the event, was charged by the Clay County Sheriffs Department with grand larceny and uttering.

She was identified as Laura Sue Randall, 47.

The Clay County Bank reportedly call authorities when the woman was attempting to cash a check from an account that had been previously reported that checks had been stolen.

Police discovered that there were multiple checks, check books, and receipts with multiple different names on them inside the woman's bag.

An employee of the Clay County Bank stated that the defendant came inside the bank on Saturday Dec 7th and did successfully cash a check made out to the defendant from an account belonging the Widen Days Committee for $1000.

The defendant reportedly forged the signature of Joyce Gibson on the check.

Also discovered on the person of the defendant were 5 other checks from the account belonging to Widen Days Committee made out to various mercantile establishments.
