NEW BRIDGE OPENS ACROSS WEST FORK AT ROCKSDALE - No Politicians, Bands Or Fanfare

(11/12/2019)

There were no politicians, speeches, bands or fanfare at the opening of the new Egypt Ridge Bridge at Rocksdale.

The new bridge replaced a 130 year old truss structure built in 1889.

Local citizens thought about organizing a bridge opening, driving cattle, sheep and turkeys across the structure to recall earlier days when local farmers made the march across the old bridge toward the Spencer Livestock Exchange during the early years of the last century.

Folks just settled for walking or driving across the new bridge.
