Robert Dale "Bob" Harris, 78, of Parkersburg

Robert Dale "Bob" Harris, 78, of Parkersburg passed away suddenly November 6, 2019 while hunting in the woods near Coolville, OH.

He was born on March 13, 1941 in Grantsville, WV and was the son of the late William and Ernestine Wilson Harris.

Bob retired from DuPont where he worked as a chemical operator for several years. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. Bob also enjoyed watching WVU Athletics and NASCAR racing.

Most of all, Bob loved his family and was fiercely loyal to his friends. Those he loved were blessed by his sense of humor, compassion, kindness and guidance. His impact on all of those whose lives he touched is immeasurable and irreplaceable. He will truly be missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Julia "Ann" Harris, two daughters, Alice Marie Harris (daughter-in-law Nancy Harris) and Debra "Debbie" Ann Harris both of Parkersburg, granddaughter, Samantha Jo Shimer, brother, Larry Harris (Terri), sister, Judy Phares, adopted son, Brian Hess (Michele), brother Kermit Ruble (Linda) and his McDonalds coffee buddies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Kirby and Alice Marie Harris.

A Memorial Service will be 7 pm, Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Leavitt Funeral Home of Parkersburg led by Brian Hess.

A gathering of friends will be held Saturday from 5 pm until time of service.

Memorial Contributions can be made to the WVU at Parkersburg Foundation Student Emergency Fund.
