PARKERSBURG STABBING - Parkersburg police arrested a 24-year-old man after an investigation revealed he stabbed another man in the neck under a Parkersburg bridge on Friday.

According to a release, Jesse L. Kersey III reportedly stabbed William D. Richards III, 33, while the two men were arguing at a camp site beneath the East Street Bridge.

When police responded to the stabbing complaint, they found Richards with a laceration to his throat. He was taken to WVU Medical Center in Parkersburg to be treated for his injuries. His condition was not immediately released.

Kersey fled the scene, but was located by authorities a short time later on 7th street.

He was taken to Parkersburg Police Headquarters for questioning and subsequently arrested and charged with felony malicious assault.

Detectives and Crime Scene personnel assisted with the investigation.
