Katelyn Dawn Weese, age 23 of Glenville WV, departed this life on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown WV, following injuries sustained in an automobile collision.She was born August 29, 1996 in Parkersburg WV, daughter of Rebecca James and husband Roger of Normantown WV and Chris Weese of Winton NC. Katelyn is a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 2014 and a graduate of Glenville State College class of 2018. She received her college degree in Behavior Science and was working on her master's degree in social work through Concord University, and would have graduated in July of 2020. Katelyn was employed with Harmony Mental Health in Calhoun County WV, where she was a counselor working with children in the school system. To Katelyn's family, friends and all who knew and loved her, she was the brightest shining star, kind, generous, loyal, had the biggest smile, and loved fiercely. Her boisterous laugh and sense of humor were infectious. The outpouring of love and testimonies of how she has impacted people's lives is proof of how special Katelyn was. Beyond her parents, Katelyn is survived by her loving sister, Brittany Sponaugle and husband Josh of Glenville; brother, Christopher Weaver and wife Trish of Auburn WV; and 4 nieces and nephews, Paityn and Jameson Weaver and Ariel and Brody Sponaugle; paternal grandparents, Tom and Kathy Weese; paternal step-grandmother, Veda James; 4 uncles, Tim Grogg and wife Kim, Jackie Grogg and wife Heather, Tommy Weese, and Johnny James and wife Robin; 1 aunt, Lisa Eaton and husband Steve, numerous cousins, Joey Grogg, who is currently serving our country in Kuwait, Emily Grogg, Rae Grogg, Grayson Grogg, Ava Grogg, Justin Eaton, Cierra Grogg, and Rachael Tomblin. Also surviving are a host of great aunts, great uncles, numerous second and third cousins, an army of loyal and close friends, and her beloved dogs Daphne and Scooby. Katelyn is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Jack and Rachel Grogg; paternal step-grandfather, Michael James; Aunt, Jessica Weese, and great-grandmother, Ruth Sims. A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc. 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville WV at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2019 with Pastor Richard Westfall officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery near Normantown. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Thursday evening at the mortuary in Glenville. Ellyson Mortuary, Inc. is honored to assist the family of Katelyn Dawn Weese with arrangements. |
