ST. ALBANS SHOOTING - St. Albans police have identified a man who died after he was shot Saturday night in St. Albans.

Michael Monson died at the hospital after he was shot in the abdomen just after 11 p.m. Saturday night in St. Albans, according to St. Albans police.

Police said the shooting happened at around 11:10 p.m. When police arrived on scene they found Monson with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to a local hospital where he died about an hour later.

According to police, Monson had a previous relationship with the female who lived in the residence. Investigators believe there was a short struggle that happened inside the home which led to Monson being shot.

The incident remains under investigation and investigators will be meeting with the Kanawha County prosecutors office to determine whether charges will be filed when the investigation is complete.

HUNTINGTON STABBING - Police say two people were taken to the hospital after a stabbing on Huntington's West End.

According to Huntington Police Chief Hank Dial, the stabbing happened after two people got into a fight in the 1000 block of Monroe Avenue just after 8 p.m. Saturday.

Dial said both people were taken to the hospital and one suffered serious injuries. One has also been taken into custody.
