KANAWHA SHOOTING DEATH - Kanawha County deputies said initial reports indicate a man who was attacking his wife during a domestic incident was shot to death by his wife’s sister.

Metro 911 said the incident occurred about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on Shadywood Lane in the Browns Creek area near St. Albans.

Sgt. Brian Humphreys, spokesman for the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, said the man apparently had been attacking his wife. The wife’s sister grabbed a firearm and shot the man.

The sister who shot the man called 911.

Deputies arrived at the scene and were followed by an ambulance from the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority, a news release from the sheriff's office said. Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The others present at the scene remained there and cooperated with investigators. Detectives will collect evidence to compare with witness statements.

No arrests have been made.

DUNBAR ROBBERY - Deputies said a Kanawha County man was shot and robbed Tuesday afternoon in his home near Dunbar.

Deputies, troopers, firefighters and paramedics rushed to the crime scene about 1:15 p.m. on Upper Midway Drive just outside of Dunbar.

The victim, identified as 19-year-old Brycen Ellis by his grandfather, had been shot in the leg. Deputies said this was not a random shooting at the victim's home.

"This person identified the people who were there,” Sgt. Brian Humphreys, spokesman for the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. “He's identified at least one person that he says he was acquaintances with. Now he's saying there were others that were with that person.”

Initial reports indicated the victim's gun and cell phone were taken in the robbery. He was trying to drive himself to get medical help when deputies and paramedics arrived at the scene.
