Robert James Stirling, Sr., 83, of Big Bend

Robert James Stirling, Sr., 83, of Big Bend, WV passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2019, following a brief illness, surrounded by his family at Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV.

He was born October 19, 1935, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of the late William Chalmer and Virginia Elizabeth Moffitt Stirling.

Robert married the love of his life, Norma B. Kelly Stirling on October 24, 1966. He worked at LTV Steel for 31 years and retired from Wirt Inflatables in Elizabeth, WV. He loved talking about cars, but most of all, spending time with his family.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William (Bill) Stirling.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Norma B. Stirling; three sons, Larry F. Greathouse (Tina Davis) of Grantsville WV; Robert J. Stirling, Jr. of Williamstown WV; and Jimmie (Elizabeth) Stirling of Gratnsville; two daughters, Robin (Joe) Hardbarger of Grantsville and Virginia (Delbert) Bunner of Brohard WV; six grandsons, Larry (Rebecca) Greathouse, Joshua (Molly) Bunner, Jeremy Bunner (Amelia Starcher), Jacob Bunner, Chasen Stirling, and Kevin Hardbarger; one granddaughter, Ember Stirling; three great-grandchildren, Larry Greathouse, Connor Layne, and Eli Hardbarger; one brother, Larry (JoAnn) Stirling; sister-in-law, Barb Stirling; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc. Grantsville, on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor John Harrison officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Hunt Cemetery.
