Sonny Carper, 79, of Looneyville

Sonny Carper, 79, of Looneyville, WV, died Thursday, September 12, 2019, at home, after an extended illness. He was born December 10, 1939, at Kester, Roane County, the son of the late Floyd Monroe and Ocie Gertrude Smith Carper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death Cory Colton Carper, December 17, 2018; brother, Smith Arden Carper; sisters, Eunice Ann Kyser Kline and Betty Lou Newman. Sonny was united in marriage, on the 29th day of September, 1962 at Barberton, Ohio, to Sandra Kay Morris Carper. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, 11 months and 13 days, Sandra; children, Susan Kay Foraker, Virginia Ann Kramer, Christopher Keith Carper and Daniel Keith Carper all of Looneyville; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Caro of Honolulu, Hawaii and Phyllis Norris of Baltimore, Maryland. He was a retired truck driver and a former member of the Teamsters Union, Local 348, Akron, Ohio. Also, he was an Army veteran and a member of the Faith Baptist Church, Spencer. His pastimes included hunting and watching purple martins. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 15 at the Faith Baptist Church, Spencer, with Pastor Justin Simmons officiating. Burial will be in the J. Herbert Smith, Sr. Family Cemetery, Vineyard Ridge, Looneyville. The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the John H.
