He was born October 3, 1951, at Parkersburg, the son of the late James Willard and Bernice Ruth Hall Matheney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Matheney; and a brother, Garry A. Matheney.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Brett Whiting of Parkersburg; son and daughter-in-law, James and Kaylyn Matheney of Sheridan WY.; four grandchildren, Colby Whiting, Chelsea Whiting, Nicholas Matheney and Natalie Matheney; brother, Terry Matheney of Newton.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 30 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Rick Metheney officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery, Beech. The visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
