Helen (Jarvis) Cooper Burns, 76, of Grantsville

Helen (Jarvis) Cooper Burns, 76, of Grantsville, WV, passed peacefully at home on Friday, August 16, 2019, after an extended illness, accompanied by Housecalls Hospice and was surrounded by her family in her last days.

She was born February 3, 1943 to the late Cecil and Nell (Arnold) Jarvis.

Helen leaves behind 4 daughters, Tammy McCullough of Grantsville, Kathy Moneypenny of Phoenix, Arizona, Lisa Cooper of Grantsville, and Marty Jo (Tim) Runnion of Parkersburg WV; grandchildren, Brian Beecher of Las Vegas NV, Sara Ritchie of Pennsylvania, Steven Beecher of Pennsylvania, Erica Cottrill of Grantsville, Kayla Cooper of Grantsville, Adam Roberts of Moorefield WV, Matthew Dettman of Phoenix AZ, Brad Moneypenny of Las Vegas, Jamie Moneypenny of Grantsville.

She had 11 great-grandkids, Grace, Makayla, Landon, Jonan, Cameron, Caylee, Maddison, Nora, Scarlett, Everett, Annabelle, Payton, and Robert.

Also surviving are one brother, Donald Jarvis of Alabama; sisters, Hope Schoolcraft of Orma WV, Donnie (Bernard) King of Ripley WV, Connie Rucker of Cottageville WV, Alice Conley of South Carolina, and Jean Holmes of Mesa AZ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Burns; son, Basil Arno (Bud) Cooper; grandson, Dennis (Denny) Cottrill; sisters, Nelma Stump, Bernice Cornn, and Betty Smith and one brother, Bernard Jarvis.

Helen was known for her cooking and baking for her restaurant "Mike's Place" for 13 years that now carries on as Mom's Place in Elizabeth, WV, named in her honor. She had a special relationship with Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Dept. and DOH that has lasted through the years. She enjoyed gardening and her flower beds, canning, baking and cooking, sewing, scrapbooking and tole painting, and a love for playing bingo. She enjoyed spending time with family and all her grandkids, great-grandkids, and her beloved therapy dog, Precious.

She developed deep relationships with the amazing staff from Housecalls Hospice and her granddaughter, Erica Cottrill, as her caregiver. She greatly appreciated the wonderful care she received.

A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Grantsville WV on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Brad Petitt officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 6-8 p.m.
