FIVE VEHICLES COLLIDE IN CHAIN ACCIDENT - Three Sent To Hospital, Second Wreck Friday Night

Rt. 16 wreck at Mt. Zion UM Church

Five vehicles were involved in a chain accident on Route 16 shortly before 4 p.m. yesterday. Three occupants of the first vehicle, including two children, were taken to Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center for examination by Calhoun EMS.

The vehicles were traveling north at the Mount Zion UM Church, near the intersection of Hur-Rocksdale Road. They received front and rear damage.

The highway was rain-slick with snow flurries.

Deputy Carl Ballengee investigated the accident. The Grantsville Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Calhoun EMS responded to a single vehicle accident on Nighcut Hill on Route 5 west of Grantsville at 8:45 p.m. Friday night. The vehicle went out of control and went over the hillside, landing in a hollow. The driver of the vehicle was not transported to the hospital. The Grantsville VFD responded.
