Calhoun native Mary Grace Gainer has graduated from Indiana University of
Pennsylvania with a Master of Arts degree in English literature and
Criticism.
Throughout her Master's program, Gainer maintained a 4.0 Grade Point
Average and held a Graduate Assistantship from the IUP Graduate School's
Office of Grants and Sponsored Research.
The assistantship was renewed and she began a PhD program in January,
2003.
As part of the assistantship, Gainer is the production manager of the
university-wide newsletter, which provides faculty and staff with
information about available grant and research opportunities.
During her time at IUP, Gainer has presented papers at two academic
conferences and has been accepted to present at two more later this year
in Minnesota and New Hampshire.
She also serves as Vice-President of the English Graduate Organization and
has helped plan and conduct their first ever Interdisciplinary Graduate
Conference this February.
She is the mother of five-year-old Noah Thomas and the daughter of Tom
and Emily Gainer of Sand Ridge. She is the granddaughter of Grace Stump
of Big Run.
